Do you ever think it’s weird how we find everything that babies do to be ridiculously adorable, yet if an adult was to do those same things you would immediately call the insane asylum? This is something that has boggled my mind many a time.
Last week, Trey and I were discussing this topic and how absurd it would be if we were to encounter a grown human in public behaving the way that our nearly 7-month-old daughter behaves in public. Think about it. How would you respond if you were enjoying dinner with your family at a nice restaurant (or Taco Bell, because yum), and you notice a baby crying? You look to find the baby in distress, and said baby is flailing her arms and legs. You think to yourself, poor little baby? Poor mommy? How embarrassing? Wow, I wish that baby would shut up? Then, you probably get back to your dinner, and move on with your life. Nothing that out of the ordinary. Now, let’s say you’re in a similar situation, dinner with your family (restaurant of choice), and suddenly you hear crying. You do a scan of the restaurant and see a grown man crying and flailing his arms and legs hysterically… Crazy, right? Like, “Honey, grab the kids, we gotta get out of here ASAP” crazy.
It seems as if certain behaviors are only acceptable for a baby. To prove our assumption, we decided to experiment.
Here is what we came up with:
